About me

Koen Schalkwijk (1988) plays piano, Wurlitzer and syntheseizers in different bands in the Netherlands. He graduated in 2013 at the conservatory of Amsterdam, studying Master Jazz Piano. During his studies he went to Philadelphia as an exchange project with the Temple University. Soon after graduating he won the Keep An Eye Records prize which enabled him to record an album with his project Koeniverse3, called Two Cities.

Right now he writes music for his latest project called: Schalkwijk / Govaert. A dynamic duo consisting of piano/Wurlitzer and drums. They recently recorded three music videos which you can see and listen to in the media section.

As a sideman Koen is working with the Kika Sprangers Kwintet, Johan Plomp’s Opthophobia, CLOD!, Albertine and Ruud Voesten’s Ambrosia.
